The incident occurred around 11:30 a.m., prompting a swift response from state and local law enforcement. The condition of the troopers has not been disclosed, and no suspects have been identified or apprehended as of this time.

“I’ve been briefed on the shooting of Pennsylvania State Police Troopers in Susquehanna County. I’m in touch with law enforcement on the ground and will visit the area today,” said Governor Shapiro in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

Route 171 remains closed in both directions between:

  • Main St. and Starruca Creek Rd in Thompson
  • Bethel Hill Rd and Church Hill Lake Rd in Harmony Township
