Urgent investigation after 2 people found fatally shot in Colorado dorm room 

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Police in Colorado are investigating a possible double-homicide after two people were found shot to death in a University of Colorado-Colorado Springs dorm room this weekend.

Police have identified two victims as 24-year-old Samuel Knopp, who is a registered student, and 26-year-old Celie Rain Montgomery, who is not currently a student, as an active search for the killer continues.

Police responded to a call of shots fired in a dorm room just before 6 a.m. Friday. The victims were discovered shortly after.

“I was shocked. Honestly, I had woke up to an email from one of my teachers saying that there was a lockdown and to just be safe,” said student Adam Trujillo.

Classes were canceled the rest of the day.

Police say they are withholding information about the ongoing investigation but that they believe this was not a random act.

The university declared Monday a “day of healing.”

“We are in shock as we process this tragic loss of two lives,” said UCCS Chancellor Jennifer Sobanet.
