Gunman unleashes rampage across multiple locations in Lewiston, killing at least 22 people and injuring dozens more

Person of interest Robert Card, now a suspect, has a history of military service and is a firearms instructor, sources have revealed.

Also hinted at was Card’s mental health history, which they said includes a two-week stay at a mental health facility this past summer.

The hospitalization came after Card allegedly made threats about carrying out a shooting at a National Guard facility.

He has yet to be located.

Authorities have traced the suspect’s white Subaru to a location in Lisbon, Maine, sources said.

Joe Biden has vowed to offer federal support to officials in Lewiston hours after the series of shootings Wednesday.

Biden made the promise to Maine Gov. Janet Mills and members of Congress, a senior White House official said, during a late-night phone call.

Speaking Mills, Sens. Angus King and Susan Collins and Rep. Jared Golden, he promised immediate aid in the wake of ‘this horrific attack,’ the official said.

The Lewiston Police Department named a 40-year-old man as a ‘person of interest’ in their investigation, after two shootings at a bar and a bowling alley earlier in the nigh.

Named as Robert Card, cops said the man – who has yet to officially be named as a suspect – ‘should be considered armed and dangerous.

‘Please contact law enforcement if you are aware of his whereabouts’.

As of 11:15pm, Card remains at-large.

FBI issues statement

FBI operatives stationed in Boston have issued a statement regarding the ongoing active shooter investigation in Lewiston.

The announcement, while vague, stated that the Bureau was ready to assist in local cops’ search for the gunman or gunmen responsible.

They wrote: ‘The FBI Boston Division continues to coordinate with our local, state and federal law enforcement partners in Maine and we stand ready to assist with any available resources they need, including evidence response, investigative and tactical support, as well as victim assistance.

‘We continue to urge the public to remain vigilant and report any and all suspicious activity and/or individuals to law enforcement immediately,’ the statement added.

‘As this situation is still very fluid, we have no further comment at this time and will refer you to the Maine State Police.’The search for the suspect – or suspects – has yet to yield an arrest.

Biden briefed on active shooter incident

Joe Biden has been briefed on the ongoing active shooter incident in Maine , the White House has revealed – during a visit with Australia’s prime minster.

Biden, 80, received news of the fatal shooting – which has reportedly left at least 22 in Lewiston dead – this evening, but still attended a scheduled State Dinner at the White House with visiting leader Anthony Albanese.

A White House official said the head of state would receive updates as the situation develops – as at least one gunman with an AR 15-style rifle remains at large.

A massive manhunt is now on for the person – or persons – responsible for the fatal shooting, after dozens of shots rang out at two separate locations across the city, leaving up to 60 injured.

The death toll, as of 10pm, is still not confirmed, and cops are still searching for those responsible. Maine ‘s hospital system, meanwhile, said they were declaring the incident a mass casualty event – but Biden has yet to issue a statement.

Police in Lewiston released a photo of a vehicle they are looking for in relation to their ongoing investigation.

Officers asked members of the public to call the Lewiston Police Department if they recognize the vehicle, a silver Subaru hatchback that can be seen with its driver door ajar in the photo.

The car is believed to belong to the shooter.

Manhunt underway

The Lewiston Police Department has issued a shelter-in-place order for the city as cops continue to search for the suspect – or potentially suspects – responsible.

Residents were told to stay inside with their doors locked, as feds have deployed helicopters to help with the search.

New Hampshire police are also putting up roadblocks to try to keep the suspect within the state as the hunt continues.

The search for the shooter, who is seen in surveillance fotage toting a semiautomatic rifle, remains ongoing.
