Woman Shot During Attempted Armed Robbery in Lakeview, Chicago

CHICAGO (WLS) – July 13, 2025 — A 24-year-old woman was shot early Sunday morning during an attempted armed robbery on Chicago’s North Side, authorities said.

The incident occurred just before 12:30 a.m. in the 400-block of West Wellington Avenue, in the Lakeview neighborhood.

According to Chicago police, the woman was walking outside when a silver SUV pulled up. Three male suspects exited the vehicle and demanded her belongings at gunpoint. A struggle ensued, during which one of the suspects shot the woman in the abdomen before fleeing the scene in the SUV.

The victim was transported to Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where she was reported to be in good condition.

As of Sunday morning, no arrests had been made, and Area Three detectives are leading the investigation. Police have not released additional details.
