Extreme Heat: 120 million Americans under heat alerts as dangerous temperatures grip the US

UNITED STATES — More than 120 million Americans are under heat alerts as a strong area of high pressure continues to fuel dangerous temperatures across much of the country.
Extreme heat warnings, watches, and advisories remain in effect across large portions of the United States and are expected to continue over the next several days, increasing the risk of heat-related illnesses.
Officials are urging residents to stay hydrated, limit outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day, seek air-conditioned spaces when possible, and check on vulnerable individuals, including older adults, children, and those with chronic health conditions.
