Man Fighting for Life After Targeted Stabbing in Manchester City Centre

A 31-year-old man is in critical but stable condition after a suspected targeted stabbing in Manchester city centre during the early hours of Saturday, police said.
Officers from the City of Manchester policing team discovered the victim with stab wounds on Peter Street in the Deansgate area at around 3:40 a.m. while on routine patrol. They provided first aid before the man was taken to hospital.
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said the attack is believed to have been targeted, adding that there is no wider threat to the public.
No arrests have been made, and a police cordon remains in place as detectives continue their investigation.
Chief Inspector Mike Tachauer said investigators are working quickly to identify those responsible and urged anyone with information to contact police.
