Des Moines, Iowa North to start under 2-hour delay Wednesday after power outage

DES MOINES, Iowa — North High School in Des Moines will start under a 2-hour delay Wednesday morning due to a power outage caused by overnight storms.

Areas affected and restoration response

Parts of central Iowa received more than 5 inches of rain over a 24-hour period, including a measurement of 5.89 inches at the Des Moines International Airport.

Thousands in the metro faced power outages, including North High School.

Des Moines Public Schools says classes at North will begin at 10:15 a.m. and dismiss at the regular time.
