WFPD: one dead in Faith Rd. officer-involved shooting — Wichita Falls, Texas

Officer-Involved Shooting: WICHITA FALLS, Texas — WICHITA FALLS, Texas (KAUZ) – One person was confirmed dead after Wichita Falls Police Department officers were involved in a shooting in the 4100 block of Faith Rd.

The incident began as a high-priority welfare check around 8:15 Wednesday night, according to WFPD PIO Sgt. Jacob Vasquez.

He said WFPD received a call, “…in reference to a subject calling in who was suicidal… and that he had a firearm in his possession…

When [officers] arrived on scene they did find [him] outside of his apartment with a firearm.” Sgt. Vasquez said officers “tried to talk the individual down,” and he “challenged the officers” with the firearm in his possession.
