Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued for Alma, Bristol and New Lacy With 60 MPH Winds

The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning at 5:22 p.m. EDT on August 13 for parts of Pierce, Bacon, Wayne and Appling counties in southeastern Georgia.

Radar detected the storm about eight miles northwest of Bristol, moving southeast at 15 mph. It could produce wind gusts reaching 60 mph, hail and continuous lightning through 6 p.m.

Officials warned that the winds could damage roofs, siding and trees. Alma, Bristol and New Lacy are among the locations in the storm’s path, and residents were advised to shelter inside an interior room on the lowest floor
