Special Marine Warning Issued for Long Island Sound With Winds Over 50 Knots

A Special Marine Warning is in effect for portions of Long Island Sound until 6:30 a.m. EDT, according to the National Weather Service.

The warning covers waters east and west of New Haven, Connecticut, and Port Jefferson, New York, including areas toward the mouth of the Connecticut River.

Storms may produce winds greater than 50 knots and steep waves, creating dangerous conditions for boats and other vessels.

Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately and remain off the water until conditions improve.
