Damaging Tornado Threatens Ransom, Illinois; NWS Calls It a Life-Threatening Situation

A Tornado Warning remains in effect for Ransom, Illinois, until 12:00 a.m. CDT Monday, with the National Weather Service warning of a damaging tornado.

The NWS described the situation as life-threatening and urged people in the warning area to seek shelter immediately.

Approximately 891 people are within the warned area. Pea-sized hail is also possible as the dangerous storm moves through the region.

Residents should remain in a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building, away from windows, until the tornado threat has passed.
