After a grueling two day stretch that saw Trinity Middle School softball play in six games, the Lady Raiders capped it off with a State Championship win.

Traveling to Paducah, Trinity beat Meade County in the finals to secure the title.

Trinity finished the tournament with six consecutive victories, opening play Friday with wins over Dawson Springs and Franklin-Simpson.

The Lady Raiders carried that momentum into Saturday, defeating Meade County, Apollo and Livingston Central before meeting Meade County again in the championship game.

Head coach Samantha McMichael said the championship was the result of a season of hard work and a group of players who believed in one another.

“I couldn’t be prouder of these girls,” McMichael said. “They came into this tournament with a goal, and they never lost sight of it.

We faced some really good teams, but our girls stayed focused, played for each other and found ways to win.
