Redeveloped airport lounge to open in November

The first phase of a project to redevelop Jersey Airport's departure lounge is due to open to the public in early November.

Project leaders said the new lounge would include an improved layout, expanded seating areas and a new mezzanine level with runway views.

Ports chief executive Matt Thomas said the changes would "massively enhance the experience" for passengers.

The first stage of project had been developed with input from charities, businesses and tourism, heritage, arts and passenger groups, project leaders said.

Features would include wicker Jersey cows, aerial images of the island, a Martello-inspired lift tower and a Plémont Bay-themed family area, they added.

Thomas said the project was also making changes to the ageing infrastructure of the airport.

He said: "This project is about much more than creating a beautiful space for our passengers.
