Times Square Shooting: 17-Year-Old Child Opens Fire, Injures Three in New York City

A Times Square shooting involving a 17-year-old suspect left three people injured early Saturday morning, authorities confirmed. The teen opened fire at around 1:20 am EST near the intersection of 44th Street and 7th Avenue, one of New York City’s busiest tourist hotspots.

The New York Police Department (NYPD) arrested the teenager shortly after the incident. Police say the shooting was a violent reaction to a dispute. Three victims—a woman aged 18 and two men aged 19 and 65—were rushed to the hospital with gunshot wounds. The woman sustained a graze wound to her neck, while the men were shot in the legs.

Witnesses described scenes of chaos as the shooter sprayed gunfire into traffic, causing people to scatter in panic. Emergency responders quickly arrived on the scene, attending to those injured in the street. Footage from the event shows a massive police presence and the containment of crowds near the Hard Rock Cafe.

The suspect, due to his age, has not been publicly identified. Authorities recovered the firearm used during the shooting.

This tragic event follows a recent shooting in Midtown Manhattan on July 27, where a gunman opened fire inside a skyscraper, killing four people including an NYPD officer.

The NYPD continues to investigate the Times Square shooting to determine the full circumstances behind this alarming act of violence.
