70 MPH Winds Threaten Cleveland, Parma and Strongsville as Severe Storm Moves East

CLEVELAND, Ohio — A powerful severe thunderstorm capable of producing 70 mph wind gusts and quarter-size hail is moving toward Cleveland, Parma and Strongsville Saturday afternoon, with forecasters warning that significant damage is possible.
The Severe Thunderstorm Warning covers portions of Cuyahoga, Medina, Summit and Lorain counties until 5:45 p.m. EDT.
Significant Damage Possible
The storm was near North Ridgeville and moving east at approximately 30 mph.
Forecasters warned that the 70 mph winds could cause considerable damage to trees and roofs, while quarter-size hail could damage vehicles and property.
Cleveland and Parma in Storm’s Path
Cleveland, Lakewood, Parma and Strongsville are among the communities in the path of the storm.
Residents should move indoors immediately, stay away from windows and remain in a sturdy building until the storm passes.
