José Suárez, Telemundo Executive, Among 5 Americans Killed in Kenya Helicopter Crash

José Alberto Suárez, a senior Telemundo executive, was among five Americans killed when a tourist helicopter crashed in northern Kenya, authorities and local media said.

Seven people, including six passengers and the pilot, died in the crash near Mount Ololokwe in Samburu County.

Ecuadorian Intelligence Chief Also Killed

Michele Sensi-Contugi, director of Ecuador’s National Intelligence Center, was also killed alongside his wife, Stephany Hollihan Vásconez, a U.S.-Ecuadorian citizen.

Suárez, 55, served as president and general manager of several Telemundo-owned television stations in Florida.

Investigation Underway

The Eurocopter EC130 B4 crashed at about 9:13 a.m. while transporting tourists near a popular safari destination.

Kenya’s Air Accident Investigation Department has opened an investigation. The cause of the crash has not yet been determined.
