Matthew Allen Waggle Named Person of Interest in Vero Beach, Florida Homicide

VERO BEACH, Fla. — Authorities are searching for 33-year-old Matthew Allen Waggle after naming him as a person of interest in the fatal shooting of a woman found in a Vero Beach roadway on Sunday, August 16.

Indian River County sheriff’s deputies responded to the area of 501 1st Street at approximately 8:41 a.m. following a report of a woman lying in the road.

Deputies discovered the woman suffering from an apparent gunshot wound and began emergency medical treatment. She was transported to a trauma center, where she was pronounced dead.

Search for Person of Interest

Investigators subsequently identified Waggle as a person of interest and said efforts to locate him were ongoing.

Authorities warned members of the public not to approach Waggle if they see him and to call 911 immediately.

Officials have not announced any criminal charges against Waggle or publicly identified the victim. The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation.

Detectives are asking anyone who witnessed the incident or was near 1st Street on Sunday morning to contact the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office.
