Cape Cod Bay Thunderstorm Alert: 30-Knot Winds and Lightning Threaten Massachusetts Waters

A strong thunderstorm is moving across Massachusetts coastal waters, bringing powerful wind gusts, rough seas and dangerous lightning to Cape Cod Bay and Massachusetts Bay.
Storm Moving East Across Cape Cod Bay
The National Weather Service detected the storm near Ocean Bluff-Brant Rock at 12:42 p.m. EDT on Thursday, August 13. It was moving east at approximately 15 knots.
Winds Could Reach 30 Knots
The storm may produce wind gusts approaching 30 knots, briefly rough seas and frequent lightning strikes.
Race Point, Green Harbor, Ocean Bluff-Brant Rock, Cape Cod Bay, Massachusetts Bay and waters near the Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary may be affected.
Marine Alert Continues Until 1:45 P.M.
Boaters are advised to seek safe harbor until the thunderstorm passes. The marine weather alert remains in effect until 1:45 p.m. EDT.
