Tornado Warning Continues for South Bend, Elkhart and Mishawaka, Indiana

A Tornado Warning continues for South Bend, Elkhart and Mishawaka, Indiana, until 1:30 p.m. EDT Tuesday, as dangerous thunderstorms showing radar-indicated rotation move across the region.

The warning area also includes New Carlisle, North Liberty, Walkerton, Plymouth, Nappanee, Wakarusa, Goshen and surrounding communities, while the warned area extends north into southwestern Michigan near Benton Harbor, Niles, Dowagiac and Cassopolis.

Pea-sized hail is possible. Approximately 717,957 people, 241 schools and 18 hospitals are within the warning area, according to the National Weather Service graphic.

Residents should remain in shelter immediately, preferably in a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building, away from windows.
