DHS says suspected Tren de Aragua gang member, illegal immigrant arson suspect arrested after release in Maryland

WASHINGTON — The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers have arrested a suspected Tren de Aragua (TdA) gang member and an illegal immigrant accused of arson after they were allegedly released by officials in Maryland.

In a statement posted on X, DHS accused Maryland sanctuary politicians of releasing the two suspects instead of holding them for federal immigration authorities.

According to the department, officers with ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Washington later arrested both individuals.

DHS urged local officials to stop releasing criminal suspects wanted by immigration authorities, arguing that such policies endanger public safety. Maryland officials have not immediately responded to the department’s claims.
