Scattered storms to bring heavy rain and dangerous heat to South Florida

MIAMI, Fla. — Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop once again across interior and southwest Florida on Wednesday afternoon and evening, according to the National Weather Service.

Forecasters say the greatest storm coverage will be across inland and western portions of South Florida, while afternoon temperatures climb into the upper 80s to low 90s.

Despite the actual temperatures, heat index values could reach 105–110°F (40–43°C) at times due to high humidity.

The strongest storms may produce:

• Heavy downpours
• Frequent lightning
• Gusty winds
• Localized flooding in low-lying and poor-drainage areas.

Residents are urged to stay weather-aware, limit outdoor activity during peak heat, and seek shelter immediately if thunderstorms develop.
