Strong storm with 55 mph wind gusts targets Wedgefield, Avalon Park, and Bithlo, Florida

ORLANDO, Fla. — A Special Weather Statement has been issued for Wedgefield, Avalon Park, and Bithlo as a strong thunderstorm moves north at 20 mph.

Forecasters warn the storm could produce wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph, capable of downing tree limbs, blowing around unsecured outdoor objects, and causing isolated power outages.

Residents in the affected areas are urged to seek shelter indoors and remain alert as the storm moves through central Florida this afternoon.
