Aaron Rodgers calls Fauci an “absolute coward” over Fifth Amendment testimony

NEW YORK — NFL quarterback Aaron Rodgers criticized Dr. Anthony Fauci, calling him an “absolute coward” over his decision to repeatedly invoke the Fifth Amendment during a recent U.S. Senate hearing.

Rodgers made the remarks while speaking to reporters, saying: “I’m gonna plead the fifth. Like that absolute coward Tony Fauci. Absolute coward.” 

Fauci invoked the Fifth Amendment more than 100 times during a July 29 Senate hearing chaired by Sen. Rand Paul, declining to answer questions related to the government’s COVID-19 response and related allegations. His legal team said the decision was made on the advice of counsel, while supporters and critics have sharply disagreed over its significance.
