U.S. Senate passes companion to Gabe Evans’ wildfire bill

The U.S. Senate unanimously voted to pass companion legislation to a wildfire bill sponsored by U.S. Rep. Gabe Evans.
In the Senate, the Wildfire Emissions Prevention Act of 2026, which is sponsored by Sens.
John Curtis of Utah and Shelley Moore Capito of West Virginia, amends the Clean Air Act to exclude emissions from prescribed burns from states’ air quality compliance metrics.
Evans, the Republican who represents 8th Congressional District, sponsored the Fire Improvement and Reforming Exceptional Events Act in his chamber.
