New parking, boarding changes coming to Reno-Tahoe airport in October
The Reno-Tahoe International Airport has changes hitting the ground in October, including parking improvements and a temporary outdoor boarding process for select gates.
Official response and confirmed impact
The new parking reservation system will be available starting Oct. 13 for the long-term parking garage, the closest option to the terminal building.
In the meantime, parking reservations will be paused from Oct. 1-12.
Additional parking options at the airport will become available for booking through the reservation system in the coming months.
The Reno airport's new parking reservation system will have a four-step online process, where reservation holders will receive a QR code to scan at the parking entrance.
The code can also be added to an Apple or Google Wallet for scanning.
The reservation system holds a limited number of spaces, and the remaining spots are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Incident background
The temporary outdoor boarding system will begin for select gates on Oct. 22, as part of the construction of the airport's $1 billion MoreRNO project.
