Coastal flood advisory Issued by National Weather Service

The National Weather Service issued a Coastal Flood Advisory for all bay-front shorelines on the Peninsula through 5 p.m.

Thursday, warning of high tides one foot above normal.

This could mean bay water spilling over coastal trails and properties at high tides, which could close roads or cut off access to sea-level beaches and trails.

Impacted areas include Redwood Shores, Bair Island, Palo Alto Baylands Nature Preserve and Mountain View’s Shoreline Park.

NWS meteorologist Dial Hoang said the weather service is not expecting the flood water to reach inland or travel very far up water ways, like the San Francisquito Creek.

“If you’re right along the coast, you should prepare to see some water over coastal trails or perhaps parking lots, but we’re not expecting widespread road closures,” Hoang said.

High tide is expected to be at about 3:02 a.m. and 2:23 p.m.

Tuesday, 4:04 a.m. and 3:03 p.m. Wednesday, and 5:17 a.m. and 3:51 p.m.
