Nevada State University looks to the future with 460+ acres on campus to develop

Nevada State University is looking at hundreds of acres of open land next to its Henderson campus as its next big opportunity, as the school reports record enrollment this fall .

University leaders say the campus has about 512 acres in Southern Nevada, and the school is working with Urban Land Institute Nevada on ideas to develop about 452 acres.

Concepts under discussion include a new campus entrance, additional student housing and more collaborative student spaces.

Student Body President Stephanie Flores said the campus already feels close-knit even as it grows. “It does feel like a community.

It feels like home,” Flores said. Flores said she sees the available land as a chance to keep expanding to meet demand. “There is more room.

There is more opportunity. Our university is continuing to grow every single day,” she said.

Dr. Amber Lopez Lasater, a special advisor at Nevada State University, said the amount of land available is unusual for the region. “We stretch pretty far.
