UPDATE: 11 injured in Saegertown plant explosion

UPDATE (1:28 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 9): Four firefighters and seven plant employees were taken to the hospital after an explosion at the LORD Corporation plant on Sunday.

Chuck Lawrence with Saegertown Borough Emergency Management said in a press conference that an alarm went off at the plant around 10:36 Sunday morning. Crews experienced heavy smoke upon arrival.

Shortly after firefighters arrived at the scene, there was a major explosion, injuring four firefighters and seven plant employees. Lawrence said that all injuries are considered minor.
