Preston Lord murder suspect arrested for third time after allegedly drag racing near ASU

A suspect in the Preston Lord murder case was arrested for a third time Thursday after Tempe police said he was drag racing on a motorcycle near Arizona State University while out of custody awaiting trial.

Talyn Vigil, 20, and Reeve Gosney were arrested just before 3 p.m. Thursday on charges of reckless driving and exhibition of speed after officers observed them splitting traffic, performing burnouts at intersections and drag racing near the ASU campus, Tempe police confirmed.

Both men were booked into Tempe City Jail on misdemeanor charges and their motorcycles were impounded.

Vigil is one of six remaining defendants charged in the 2023 beating death of Preston Lord, a 16 year old Queen Creek boy who was fatally attacked while leaving a Halloween party.

Only one of the seven people arrested in the case has taken a plea agreement. Vigil was 17 at the time of the killing and faces first-degree murder and kidnapping charges.
