NEW DELHI: Delhi Police have registered an FIR over the Satya Niketan building collapse that killed seven people, alleging that additional floors were built on the old structure despite concerns over its load-bearing capacity.

The FIR also alleges that further construction work was underway when the structure collapsed, news agency ANI reported.

According to the FIR, the incident took place around 1pm, and police received information at about 1.34pm.

The caller told authorities that a building being used as a PG had collapsed, with students believed to be trapped inside.ASI Praful Toppo, the complainant, said police reached the spot and found the entire building had collapsed, with several people gathered around the site.A local inquiry found that the ground-plus-four-storey building was being used as a PG, housing several students and other residents.
