Massachusetts Severe Thunderstorm Warning: 60 MPH Winds Threaten Middleborough and Buzzards Bay

A Severe Thunderstorm Warning is in effect for Middleborough, Buzzards Bay, Sagamore and nearby southeastern Massachusetts communities until 3:30 p.m. EDT Thursday.

Damaging Winds and Hail Possible

The storm could produce wind gusts reaching 60 mph, capable of damaging trees, power lines and unsecured outdoor objects.

Nickel-sized hail and frequent lightning are also possible as the storm moves across the region.

Communities Inside the Warning Area

The warning includes Middleborough, Buzzards Bay, Sagamore, Carver, Plympton, Lakeville, Marion, The Pinehills and White Island Shores.

More than 134,000 people, 36 schools and two hospitals are located within the warning area.

Residents Urged to Move Indoors

People should move inside a sturdy building and remain away from windows until the storm passes.

Drivers should prepare for torrential rain, reduced visibility, fallen branches and possible flooding on local roads.
