White River Flood Warning Indiana: Monroe, Morgan and Owen Counties Face Rising Water

A new White River Flood Warning has been issued for parts of Indiana, including Monroe, Morgan and Owen counties, as additional heavy rainfall threatens to cause minor to moderate flooding.

White River Flood Warning Issued

The National Weather Service issued the warning Thursday afternoon for the White River near Centerton, with flooding expected from Friday evening through Tuesday.

The river was measured at 6.7 feet Thursday afternoon and is forecast to rise above its 12-foot flood stage late Friday.

River Could Crest Sunday

Forecasters expect the White River near Centerton to reach approximately 14.3 feet early Sunday morning before gradually falling below flood stage Tuesday.

Flooding along other sections of the White River near Nora and Ravenswood could reach moderate severity.

Roads and Homes Could Be Affected

At approximately 15.3 feet, floodwater could make Blue Bluff and Paragon roads impassable, inundate agricultural land and affect several homes near Waverly.

Rainfall totals of 1 to 3 inches are expected Thursday night, with locally higher amounts potentially causing higher river crests and longer-lasting flooding.

Drivers should never attempt to cross flooded roads or drive around barricades.
