Delta Flight DL1334 Makes Emergency Landing in Atlanta After Smoky Odor Reported

Delta Flight DL1334 safely returned to Atlanta after a smoky odor was reported aboard the Fort Lauderdale-bound aircraft shortly after takeoff Thursday morning.

Pilots Declare Emergency After Leaving Atlanta

Flight-tracking data indicated that the crew transmitted emergency code 7700 while the aircraft was climbing out of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

The pilots stopped the journey to Fort Lauderdale and turned back toward Atlanta as a precaution.

Aircraft Lands Safely With No Injuries

Delta confirmed that Flight DL1334 landed normally and without incident. No injuries were reported among the passengers or crew.

The flight was carrying approximately 181 passengers when the emergency occurred.

Cause of Smoky Odor Under Investigation

Initial reports differed on whether the odor originated near the rear galley or cockpit. Delta has confirmed only that a smoky odor was reported aboard the aircraft.
