Election Results Explained: What You Need to Know

As we continue to count and verify the votes, here’s an important update on the current status of the election results:
Signature Cure Process for Mail Ballots
Some ballots may still be outstanding due to missing or non-matching signatures. In these cases, voters are sent a letter requesting them to verify and provide their signature in order for their ballot to be counted. This process, known as the “signature cure,” allows these ballots to be processed once corrected. Voters have until July 14 to complete the signature cure process.
Certification Timeline
Please note that all election results are unofficial until the official certification, which will occur on or before July 16. This ensures that every eligible vote is accounted for and properly processed.
Summary of Results Reporting:
- First Unofficial Results:
The first batch of unofficial results will be posted shortly after 8 p.m. on July 1. These will include mail ballots received before Election Day and votes cast at vote centers between June 21 and June 30. Since there are no qualified write-in candidates for this election, this report will not include write-in votes. - Subsequent Election Night Updates:
Following the first report, additional updates will focus on Election Day ballots cast at vote centers. These ballots will be transported from 13 vote centers across the First Supervisorial District to the Registrar’s office for tabulation. Expect periodic updates throughout the night as these ballots are counted. However, the final unofficial results may not be available until 10 p.m. or later. - Next Update:
The next unofficial results update will be posted by 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 3. Subsequent updates will be shared at the discretion of the Registrar of Voters.
Mail Ballots and Provisional Ballots:
- Mail Ballots:
Mail ballots that are postmarked by Election Day and received by July 8 will still be counted, as long as they are valid and timely cast. - Voter Turnout:
As ballots continue to be processed, the voter turnout percentage will increase. Additional ballots, including mail and provisional ballots, will be added into the count as they are verified.
Reminder:
All results remain unofficial until the completion of the official canvass, which will occur on or before July 16, 2025.
We appreciate your patience as we work to ensure the accuracy of the election process. Stay tuned for further updates and thank you for being an active participant in democracy!
