First Nations man shot dead by police at Brisbane home with ‘large number’ of family present

A First Nations man has been shot dead by police officers in Brisbane’s inner north, with his family reportedly witnessing the incident.

Queensland Police were called to a domestic violence incident at Days Road in Grange at about 2.15pm on Sunday over reports a man, 29, was trying to stab his father, 53.

Detective Superintendent Andrew Massingham told reporters on Sunday night that responding officers allegedly found the father with an injury to his left shoulder and a laceration to his hand.

“The person that we believe responsible for inflicting that wound was still at the premises, he was approached by police downstairs towards the rear of the property,” he said.

“At that time there were two police present, but an additional four officers were called for back-up.
