Military plane from Texas crashes triggering evacuation; pilot in stable condition

The pilot of the military plane that crashed and triggered an evacuation order near County Road 633 and Jeffrey Place in Grand Traverse County is in stable condition, state police say.
Michigan State Police said the crash caused a hazardous chemical spill, which triggered the evacuation order for all businesses and properties within a one-mile radius of the crash.
A shelter for those affected, Grand Traverse County Emergency Management said, has been set up at Kensington Church at 6880 Secor Road.
Michigan State Police said the Michigan Department of Military and Veterans Affairs has confirmed the crash involves an F-16 from Texas.
