DCI investigating deadly officer-involved shooting in Iowa City

The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation is investigating a deadly officer-involved shooting Tuesday evening in Iowa City.

Iowa City police said officers responded around 5:36 p.m. to the 600 block of Southgate Avenue for a report of a person armed with a knife and threatening others.

Police said officers encountered the person holding a knife and making threatening statements and gestures.

During the encounter, two uniformed Iowa City police officers fired their weapons, according to the department.
