False emergency report leads to swatting response in village of Harrison

During the initial call, the caller reported that he had been stabbed in the chest and had shot his wife with a firearm, according to the sheriff’s office.

The caller further claimed his wife was deceased, the sheriff’s office said.

Deputies contacted the homeowner and determined there were no signs of a homicide, weapons-related incident, or other emergency at the residence, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies also determined there is no ongoing threat to the public related to the incident, the sheriff’s office said.

The Calumet County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Harrison Fire Rescue, Gold Cross Ambulance and Brillion Police, according to the sheriff’s office.

The sheriff’s office said swatting is a criminal act in which an individual makes a false emergency report intended to prompt a significant law enforcement, fire or EMS response.
