One Detained After Metro Bus Stopped in East Los Angeles as Possible Theft Investigated

One person was detained Monday morning after authorities stopped a Metro bus in East Los Angeles while investigating whether the vehicle may have been stolen.

The bus was stopped at Cesar E. Chavez Avenue and Ford Boulevard at around 6 a.m.

Metro officials reportedly did not know who was driving the bus and asked the California Highway Patrol to stop the vehicle.

Several patrol vehicles were seen behind the bus as officers secured the scene and questioned the person who had been driving it.

Authorities were working to determine whether the bus had been stolen. No additional details about the detained person or how the bus came to be driven were immediately available.
