29-Year-Old Man Shot in Chest in Hunts Point, Bronx; NYPD Investigation Underway

A 29-year-old man was shot in the chest near 1275 Lafayette Avenue in Hunts Point, Bronx, shortly before 8 p.m. Sunday, prompting a large NYPD and EMS response.

Police said the shooting happened at about 7:49 p.m. Officers and paramedics responded to the scene and rushed the victim to Lincoln Hospital.

Initial police information listed the man in critical condition after suffering a gunshot wound to the chest.

No arrests had been announced, and police had not released information about a suspect or possible motive.
