GREENVILLE, South Carolina — Greenville County deputies are treating the disappearance of a 13-year-old as a possible abduction.

GREENVILLE — Authorities announced an arrest in the kidnapping of a 13-year-old girl.

The Greenville County girl was found safe more than 100 miles away in Salisbury, N.C., and has been reunited with her family, the Greenville County Sheriff's Office said Sept.

8 on social media. The Sheriff's Office said earlier that the teen had left home around 1 a.m. Sept.

5 and was picked up by an unknown individual.

The family had been in contact with someone who might be responsible, but he had not brought her home, the earlier post read.

Charges and court proceedings

"During the course of the investigation, it was determined that (the teen) required law enforcement intervention after she left her residence with a suspect later identified as a 17-year-old juvenile," the Sheriff's Office said in a 4:31 p.m. post.
