Long-serving Hill Country justice of the peace has died, officials say

A Hill Country justice of the peace who has spent the past four decades in office has died, officials say.

The Kendall County Sheriff’s Office announced the death of Kendall County Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace Judge Frieda Pressler.

The sheriff's office did not provide additional details.

“Her legacy is not measured only by the years she served, but by the countless people she helped, encouraged, and cared for along the way.” In Texas, justices of the peace preside over some civil cases, issue warrants and issue death certificates in counties without medical examiners.

Precinct 4 includes parts of west and northwest Kendall County, including Comfort.

“She was always quick to encourage our volunteers and show her appreciation for the work being done in our community,” the Comfort Volunteer Fire Department wrote.

"In fact, just a few days ago she left a message on one of our posts thanking our firefighters and sharing how grateful she was for those serving Comfort.
