2 dogs die from parvovirus outbreak in Hoosick Falls, New York

HOOSICK FALLS, New York — HOOSICK FALLS, N.Y. (WNYT)- Two dogs in Hoosick Falls have died from parvovirus after police warned about multiple local cases.

Cases and health response

Hoosick Falls police sent out the warning after multiple cases were reported near Center Street and 5th Street. Parvovirus is highly contagious.

It mainly affects puppies and unvaccinated dogs, and it can spread through feces and stay in the environment for a long time.

Police urged dog owners to call a veterinarian immediately if their dog shows symptoms including vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite and dehydration.
