Avalanche tragedy in Russia/ 11 climbers killed, 6 injured

At least 11 people have been killed and six others injured after an avalanche hit a group of climbers in Russia's Kabardino-Balkaria region in the North Caucasus.

The avalanche hit Mount Mizhirgi, one of the highest peaks in Russia's North Caucasus.

The injured climbers suffered injuries from the slide in the region's Bezengi Gorge.

More than 50 emergency workers are involved in the search and rescue operation, according to foreign media, but the operation is being hampered by difficult terrain, bad weather and a high risk of further avalanches.
