New flight-tracking data provides a clearer picture of the moments before 21 Air Flight 7598, operating for Amazon Prime Air, overran the runway at Miami International Airport on Sunday.
Flightradar24 says the Boeing 767-300F departed San Juan at 15:42 UTC and touched down in Miami at 17:53 UTC, or 1:53 p.m. local time, after a flight lasting 2 hours and 11 minutes.
Aircraft Was Still Traveling at 112 Knots
According to ADS-B data received by Flightradar24, the aircraft was traveling at approximately 112 knots when it exited the usable portion of the runway.
The final recorded speed was 69 knots.
The newly released tracking information offers important insight into the speed of the aircraft as it continued beyond the runway.
Boeing 767 Struck Multiple Vehicles
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue previously confirmed that the aircraft overran the runway and struck multiple vehicles near the airport.
More than 60 fire-rescue units were sent to the scene, where crews encountered heavy flames and smoke and began assessing patients.
FAA and NTSB Following the Incident
The FAA confirmed that 21 Air Flight 7598 overran the runway after landing.
The NTSB has also announced that it is gathering information about the incident and will provide additional updates as details are developed.
The cause of the runway overrun remains under investigation.
