41-year-old charged with attempted murder after Lyell Avenue shooting report, police say

ROCHESTER, New York — Rochester, N.Y. — Police and state troopers arrested a 41-year-old Rochester man after responding to a reported shooting on Lyell Avenue just before 11 a.m.

Sunday morning, according to the Rochester Police Department. No victim was immediately located, but police said there was evidence at the scene that shots had been fired.

Authorities later took an individual into custody who had a handgun.

The victim was later located and determined not to have been struck, according to police, and the investigation led to the person detained facing several charges, including attempted murder.
