1 killed in stabbing in Castroville early Sunday morning

A person was killed in Castroville over Labor Day weekend.

According to the Monterey County Sheriff's Office, that person was stabbed early Sunday morning at 2 a.m. at Merritt Street and Preston Street.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital but they died from their injuries. They have not been identified pending notification of next of kin.

The sheriff's office is leading this homicide investigation and says at this time there is limited information, but their office did say four men were seen running eastbound on Preston Street following the incident.
