12-year-old boy killed, sister critically injured after SUV hits their bicycles

MICHIGAN STATE, Michigan — LEROY TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WILX/Gray News) – A 12-year-old boy is dead and his 13-year-old sister is fighting for her life after both were struck by an SUV while riding their bicycles, authorities said.
Michigan State Police Lansing Post troopers said the fatal crash happened at 11:35 a.m. Saturday in Leroy Township.
According to the investigation, a Ford Explorer was traveling westbound on Grand River Avenue when it struck the two bicyclists, who were riding on the shoulder of the roadway.
A 12-year-old boy sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
