Video: Banner Plane Crashes Into Surf Off New Smyrna Beach

A banner-towing plane crashed into the surf off New Smyrna Beach, Florida, sending the aircraft upside down in shallow water as beachgoers rushed to help the pilot.
Pilot Escapes Without Life-Threatening Injuries
The pilot was the only person aboard the Piper PA-18 Super Cub and escaped before being helped to shore. No swimmers or people on the beach were injured.
The crash occurred near 27th Avenue shortly before 11 a.m. The FAA and National Transportation Safety Board were notified and will investigate the cause.
