Video: Person Reportedly Shot in Chest During Football Game at Independence High School in Bakersfield, California

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — A person was reportedly shot in the chest during a football game at Independence High School in Bakersfield Friday night as police continued investigating a shooting on the campus.

A local news crew at the game reported that an Independence High School staff member said a fight broke out before one person was shot.

No Active Shooter

The Bakersfield Police Department confirmed officers are conducting a shooting investigation at Independence High School but said there is no active shooter.

Police asked the public to stay away from the area while officers investigate.

Victim’s Condition Unclear

Authorities have not officially confirmed the reported chest injury or released information about the victim’s condition.

Police have also not announced whether anyone has been arrested or identified a suspect.
